CureZone Website

Thanks to Fisher, we will have a website for The CureZone show. He will confirm in a few days if we have the domain www.thecurezone.co.uk

We have decided to keep the layout quite simple, using the poster, or an element of the poster, as the welcome screen with an icon to "Enter" the CureZone. The first page will have a synopsis of the show ... who we are, what we do, why we do it, where, when, private view, etc. On the left hand side of that page will be all the names of the artists exhibiting serving as links. On each artists page there will be the portrait that Krystof made, a brief paragraph of who you are, where you are from, and what your work is about (you have to do it for andrew anyways so you shouldn't even worry!), links to your personal web page or blog if you want. There will be thumbnails of a few examples of your work underneath your bio that when clicked on will provide a larger view. Simple as that. Do not ask for more. Off the main page we will have links for a map, contact info and our sponsors info.

Any suggestions, please let Fisher know. Fisher needs your biography and artist statement. If you want more examples of your work posted than what you have given me then email more jpegs to me.

This is going to be a classy show!

These will serve as the main example of your work at the show, in terms of the projector, so please chose what you feel are your strongest images.

Everyone's in! Yeah!

Now that everyone has the go-ahead to exhibit at Curzon Street, we feel it is time to have another meeting. Next Tuesday at 2pm in the MA Studio. What we really need to talk about is gathering work and brainstorming ideas to use with this projector that we have provided for us for the private view of the show. Please see the previous post to familiarize yourself with the product. We are looking to have about a 5 min loop on the interactive projector but we need to plan the media for the system and get some people to work on the images and video files. The system is really quite easy and low tech to run. Any of us, video/photography savy or not, are capable of making the images/video that run with the software. Also, I am sure that there are individuals whose work would really suit the projector and if you would like to have some of your work in the spot light, then this is your chance. Some ideas that we have had so far:
1. an intro screen with something like dirt as the top layer that sweeps away to reveal the poster of the show, or another main image of the show.
2. A billboard of squares with (maybe) each of our faces which then turn over individually to reveal a sample of our work and/or contact info.

More or less, its just something to play with, so nothing needs to be complicated.

Come with some ideas on Tuesday please! Check out their website which is posted below.

Wednesday 1 August 2007

Karen and I visted the private view of the most recent show at Curzon Street - it was a show put on by the photography organization Rhubarb-Rhubarb. I wanted to post these images to give you all an idea of the space we have to work with. This show was spread over 2 floors and work was also displayed up the staircase and on the landing of the stairs. Two of the smaller rooms on each floor were turned into a food/bar area. One of the large rooms had boards while the other was left open. The other small rooms had stuff hung on the walls with no other installation, but the rooms would easily accomadate a video installation or a manufactured installation. The lighting is all pretty good and the windows let in a good amount of natural light. The floor is bare wood but the walls all look like they have just been painted. We'll work on arranging a viewing of the space soon to get everything thinking about where they would be best suited to exhibit.

As well, once Andrew and Phil are back, I expect them to announce that EVERYONE is welcome to exhibit at Curzon Street.
